In honor of Duane Harte, we have created the Duane Harte Family Services Fund. Harte served 23 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve as senior chief petty officer until his retirement in 1990. He was part of the Veterans Memorial Committee, the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society, American Legion Post 507, and the Fourth of July Parade Committee. In 2013 he helped coordinate the motor escort for the Traveling Vietnam Wall in Santa Clarita, and was an avid supporter of the United Service Organization (USO).
This Fund will support military families with mortgage assistance grants when they come into hard times and get behind because of a loss of a job, emergency medical expenses, or other unexpected events that are common in military families. Owning a home is just the first step on the path to achieving the American Dream. Keeping that dream alive by getting a family back on their feet in hard times will honor Duane Harte’s memory by helping to end the cycle of poverty.
