Candy and a College Education for Habitat for Humanity Children

Saturday, October 27th Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys hosted a Family Halloween party at the Pierce Street Villas 61 home community in Pacoima. Local Habitat Youth United chapters hosted booths where children played games, got their faces painted, won candy and worked on Halloween-themed crafts. For most of the Habitat SF/SCV families this is the first time celebrating Halloween as many come from low-income neighborhoods with large gang populations where it is not safe for the children to go outside and trick-or-treat after dark. Now finally living in a safe gated community with other like-minded families, children were excited to participate in this great event and learn more about this fun day.               … Read More

US Bank Helps Our Vets

US Bank came out with over 40 volunteers on October 25th to a veteran home repair in Burbank. Volunteers from the bank assisted David, a seeing-impaired veteran and his wife Pat, by demoing a back patio, doing yard cleanup, some painting and much more. US Bank’s assistance could not come at a better time for the family, both seniors and one with a disability, it is a struggle for the family to keep up their modest home. The family was most concerned with the leaky roof that caused damage to their ceilings and floors and the outdoor covered patio that was rotted and at risk of falling.
