Congregational Involvement
Habitat SF/SCV is an affiliate of a faith-based organization that encourages diversity and cooperation among people of different religions and backgrounds. Members of churches, synagogues, and mosques work together on our construction sites, and our homeowners are selected by need, without regard to race or religion. In addition to building with us, we are looking to recruit faith institutions to use their congregational voices to support the issue of affordable housing for all.
We have a variety of ways your congregation can support our work in your community:
- Sponsor a Teambuild
- Sponsor a House
- Encourage Children to Give with our Nickels for Nails Sunday School Program
- Engage Congregants in volunteer activities with Habitat Family Support Program
- Talk to us about our “Just Neighbors” program
- Teambuild Days
Join us for one or more individual site days. A single day can accommodate a team of up to 20 for $3,000 and up.
House Sponsorship
Faith Groups can deepen their relationship with Habitat through House Sponsorship. House Sponsors receive a series of benefits in recognition of their partnership with Habitat and have the opportunity to send teams of volunteers to help build Habitat homes. Congregants develop strong and lasting relationships with Habitat families and fully engage in the entire process of the transformational community as it emerges.
Just Neighbors
“Just Neighbors” is an exciting and fun toolkit to inspire congregants and community members to greater service and to empower them as advocates for affordable housing and neighbors in need. Through brief videos, interactive exercises, and discussion, participants learn about the struggles of people in poverty. More importantly, they learn how to help. This unique program is tailored for use with all age groups and materials are available for nondenominational groups as well.
