Critical Home Repair/Disability Modification
This refers to helping low-income families in homes that are in need of more than just exterior work. Repairs include, roofing, flooring, weatherization, replacing inefficient appliances, and any other necessary repairs that are making the home more expensive to maintain. Disability modifications include adding ramps, railings, door widening, shower modifications, etc. We perform Critical Home Repairs/Disability Modifications to low-income family homes, low income or disabled veteran family homes, seniors’ homes and disaster-stricken homes.
Supporting families affected by disasters requires bringing together donated materials, volunteers, and resources to provide a hand-up, not a handout, in times of emergency and disaster. Long after humanitarian aid organizations have completed their relief work, the need for quality shelter and housing remains for months and years. Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV serves on the Disaster Coalition for the Santa Clarita Valley and performs ABWK and Critical Home Repairs on existing homes of low-income families who live in our service area: San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley.
A Brush with Kindness
Preserving home exteriors and revitalizing neighborhoods: A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is an exterior home preservation program that offers painting, landscaping and minor repair services to eligible low-income homeowners so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come.
